Dangerous Intersection Need Attention, Councilor

DHS Council member Russell Betts said dangerous intersection needs improvements.

DESERT HOT SPRINGS — A truck hauling carrots overturned following a crash in Desert Hot Springs Thursday afternoon. The crash occurred at around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 62 and Pierson Boulevard.

City Councilmember Russell Betts was an eyewitness and snapped the photo.

“We’ve had another accident at the intersection of Highway 62 and Pierson Boulevard,” Betts told Uken Report. “It’s clearly a dangerous intersection. Our city is working with Caltrans on major safety improvements but clearly more safety measures need to be put in place.”

No further details about the accident were immediately available.

There have been at least three other accidents at that intersection in recent years:

• April 2020 — Motorcyclist killed on Highway 62
• July 2021 — Car crash on Highway 62 kills one and injures five
• October 21 — Motorcyclist killed in DUI crash on Highway 62

Thursday’s crash remains under investigation.
