PERRIS — The Riverside County Film Commission found a “dynamite” location for the 20th Century Fox Television Studios pilot “9-1-1: Lone Star,” according to a news release.

Many Riverside County residents saw, or heard, the filming taking place along the 215 Freeway near Perris as the 20th Century Fox Television Studios (TCFTV) show filmed a simulated blow-up of an empty grain silo for the 9-1-1: Lone Star season pilot.

Prior to the filming, show producers were searching high-and-low for a grain silo in a location to host a massive explosion.

The Riverside County Film Commission (RCFC) jumped into action to help the studio find that perfect spot.

“We always drive with scanners in our eyes and microphones in our ears…always in tune to what locations are being sought after,” Riverside County Film Commissioner Bettina Breckenfeld said in a news release. “We were able to connect the TCFTV location manager and the plant owner, and it was the perfect fit.”

The Riverside County Film Commission worked closely worked with the show producers in addition to coordinating the approvals from multiple entities such as March Air Reserve Base, County Fire, State Fire, the Riverside County Transportation Department, California Highway Patrol, Caltrans, City of Perris, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and bomb squad to ensure that the location and activities were legal and safe for such an explosion, which also included traffic breaks along the 215 Freeway.

9-1-1: Lone Star is created and executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear and stars Rob Lowe who also serves as co-executive producer on the series. 9-1-1: Lone Star will make its debut in January 2020 on Fox.
