Coachella Valley residents can access vaccines & other resources at new Palm Desert Mall kiosk
Are you in need a seasonal flu shot? Or you are in search of the new COVID-19 vaccine? Search no more. Access to both vaccines — and the vaccine for Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) — are available from noon to 4 p.m. each Sunday during October at a new kiosk at The Shops at Palm Desert.
Anyone who is eligible for the vaccines can receive them. Health insurance pays for all three vaccines for those who are covered, and the flu and RSV vaccines are free to those who are uninsured or underinsured. A voucher to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine shot is provided onsite to those who don’t have insurance. The vaccines are provided by CV Pharmacy.
The new kiosk is an outreach effort by the Coachella Valley Equity Collaborative to increase access to healthcare services and information. The Collaborative’s goal is to staff the kiosk throughout the week, in addition to Sundays, to provide a variety of community resources and information about valley nonprofit organizations.
“During flu season and with the release of the new COVID-19 vaccine, many people are scheduling vaccine appointments through their healthcare providers and pharmacies,” said Chris Christensen, Desert Healthcare District and Foundation interim CEO. “That’s great, but it also presents a scheduling challenge. The kiosk eliminates that challenge. It’s centrally located mid-valley, with free parking, and residents can drop by any time during those four hours on Sunday.”
The kiosk is located at: Palm Desert Mall (The Shops at Palm Desert), (Interior walkway just outside Macy’s furniture store),, 72-840 Highway 111, Palm Desert, CA 92260
About the Coachella Valley Equity Collaborative
In 2020, in response to COVID-19, the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation identified and brought together local community-based and faith-based nonprofit organizations to create and implement a plan. With the financial support of Riverside County Department of Public Health, the Collaborative helped ensure COVID-19 tests, vaccines and other resources were accessible to the Coachella Valley’s underserved and most vulnerable residents, including farmworkers. The Collaborative continues to provide services throughout the community.
