Bar Chingona to host grand opening celebration April 6 at Flannery Exchange

PALM SPRINGS — Just in time for the weekend, Chingona, a midcentury modern-inspired restaurant that serves craft cocktails is set to open downtown.

The public is welcome to celebrate the Grand Opening of Bar Chingona — the newest addition to Palm Springs’ eclectic, world-class dining scene — Thursday, April 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The midcentury modern-inspired restaurant is located at The Flannery Exchange (750 N. Palm Canyon Drive) with both indoor and outdoor seating plus a vintage airstream bar.

The Grand Opening celebration will also include a live music performance by Coachella Valley-based duo Las Tias (comprised of guitarists/vocalists Giselle Woo and Janine Rivera) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., as well as tastings from Mezcal Armás showcasing flavors from the Oaxaca region of Mexico.

Roughly translating to “a badass woman” in English, Bar Chingona offers a mix of contemporary Latin cuisine with such dishes as Short Rib Pozole, Yuzu Kosho Shrimp Aguachile, and Tinga Chicken Tostada. The menu also features an extensive list of craft cocktails and spirits, as well as 10 varieties of mezcal and 16 tequilas.

“We’re thrilled to finally open our doors and share our love of Latin cuisine and craft cocktails with the Palm Springs community,” Erika Flannery, co-owner of Bar Chingona, said in a statement. “Our restaurant is designed to be a welcoming space for everyone, and we can’t wait to share this special moment with our guests.”

Erika’s husband, co-owner Mike Flannery, redeveloped the former Bank of America branch location into a 20,000 square-foot, mixed-use building that includes short- and long-term office spaces for rent, a rooftop deck for meetings and events, retail space and the popular Café La Jefa coffee shop.
