Board of Trustees Candidate Forum will be Thursday, Oct. 6

PALM DESERT — College of the Desert’s Faculty Association (CODFA), and Adjunct Faculty Association (CODAA) have organized a question-and-answer session with the candidates who are running for the two open seats on the Desert Community College District Board of Trustees (DCCD), the Governing Board for College of the Desert (COD).

The open seats are in Trustee Areas 1 and 4.

Vying for the seat in Trustee Area 1 are incumbent and board Chair, Rubén AríAztlán Pérez and his challenger Larissa Chavez Chaidez.

Seeking the Area 4 seat are incumbent Aurora Wilson and Joel Kinnamon, former College of the Desert Superintendent/President.

The Candidate Forum will be on Thursday, October 6 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the Palm Desert Campus in the Cravens Student Services Center, Multipurpose Room. The forum is closed to the public; however, the public can watch virtually via COD’s YouTube page.

Candidates who have filed to represent Trustee Areas 1 and 4 have been invited to participate in the forum, and all four candidates have accepted the invitation.

The evening will be moderated by Julie Rescigno, Adjunct Faculty, Professor of Accounting, and Dr. Veronica Daut, Professor of Sociology. Questions have been gathered from faculty via survey monkey.
