Brighten Your Holiday Season at the Coachella Christmas Tree Lighting

COACHELLA — You can enjoy an evening of family fun, free food, pictures with Santa, and more at the Coachella Christmas Tree Lighting event today, Wednesday, Dec. 1.

The festivities kick off at 5:30 p.m. with choral and dance performances outside Coachella City Hall at 1515 Sixth Street. The tree lighting takes place at 6:20 p.m., followed by a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus! Children will be able to have a free photo taken with the festive couple, with the images made available on the Coachella Facebook page by clicking here.

Following the tree lighting, kids can take free Polar Express train rides around the library. There will also be mariachi performances and free food available from Puros Tacos Catering, the People’s Choice Award winner from this year’s Tacos, Tequila, and Chavelas Festival.

In addition to the holiday festivities, the city will recognize the 2021 Hometown Heroes. This year’s recipients include Community Leader and Activists Mario Lazcano, Clara Herrera, Clara Nieblas, Rosalío Plata, and Rosa Lucas. Former volunteer firefighters Captain Frank Morales, Lieutenant Danny Castro, Engineer Cesar Garcia, and Lieutenant George Torres will also be honored, along with Exceptional Citizen and Activist Baltazar Aguirre.
