Three Coachella Valley water boards reset with some new faces and some returning names
COACHELLA VALLEY — Three Coachella Valley water boards — Coachella Valley Water District, Desert Water Agency and Mission Springs Water District — have reset their directors’ tables following the Nov. 8 election.
The boards offer a mix of familiar and new faces following the Riverside County Registrar of Voters’ certification of results.
In the Desert Water Agency race for Division 1, the results are:
- Steve A. Grasha —3,217 votes for 57.52%
- Steve Bronack —1,526 votes for 27.28%
- Marcus John Micelli —850 votes for 15.20%
Grasha cruised to his first term on the board with the widest margin of victory in recorded history in a 3-person race for Desert Water Agency. His race drew the highest turnout in all Riverside County water district races.
He served one, four-year term on the MSWD board of directors.
In the Desert Water Agency race for Division 2, the results are:
- Gerald McKenna —1,423 votes for 70.45%
- Alfred C. Valrie —597 votes for 29.55%
In the Desert Water Agency race for Division 2, only five votes separated the candidates. The results are:
- Jeff Bowman —1,510 votes for 50.08%
- D.G. Cook —1,505 votes for 49.92%
In the Coachella Valley Water District, the race shaped up as follows:
- John Aguilar — 12,010 votes for 66.00%
- Lewis Da Silva —6,188 votes for 34.00%
