Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival Celebrates Desert Blooms and Community

The Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival returns this March, welcoming families, nature lovers, and curious minds to celebrate the beauty, resilience, and wonder of the desert landscape.

Now in its 19th year, the Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival is the Valley’s only event dedicated entirely to wildflowers, native plants, and environmental education. Hosted by Friends of the Desert Mountains, the Festival brings the community together each spring for a day of hands-on activities, live music, local vendors, food, art, and interactive learning for all ages. Much gratitude to the City of Palm Desert and our wonderful sponsors keeping the event FREE.

While wildflower blooms vary year to year, recent rains are setting the stage for a promising season.

“We’ve had the kind of winter rains that get us excited,” said Tammy Martin, Executive Director of Friends of the Desert Mountains. “It may not be a full super bloom, but conditions are lining up for a really beautiful wildflower season—and the Festival is the perfect way to kick it off.”

Long before native planting became mainstream, Friends of the Desert Mountains helped lead the way—an influence now reflected throughout the Coachella Valley.

The Festival features an Environmental Education Area for kids and families, opportunities to learn from local experts, and a joyful, welcoming atmosphere that celebrates both nature and community. The Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival is a beloved local tradition—and a reminder that the desert is always in season.
