College of the Desert Ruben Perez Arraigned on Thursday in DUI Case
INDIO — College of the Desert Area 1 Trustee Rubén AríAztlán Pérez was arraigned Thursday, Aug, 6 at the Larson Justice Center in Indio in Department 2K on charges relayed a to drunken driving.
According to a spokesperson for the Riverside County District Attorney, Perez pleaded not guilty to:
- Count 001: 23152(A) VC Driving Under the Influence
- Count 002: 23152(B) VC Driving Under the Influence BAC .08 or Higher
- Count 003: 23154(A) VC Unlawful to be on probation for DUI and drive with .01 BAC
- Count 004: 23222(A) VC Open container while driving
- Enhancement (Misdemeanor) – 23578 VC Excessive BA .15/Ref chem test
- Count P1: 23152(A) VC Driving Under the Influence
Pérez’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was documented by CHP as 0.28. There were no passengers in the vehicle at the time of his arrest, according to the CHP.
In May, the California Highway Patrol arrested Perez, 32, at Country Club Drive and Washington Street about 12:09 a.m. for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence of alcohol. He was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center. It was the second time he’s been arrested on DUI charges.
He is due back in court on Aug. 24.
Pérez currently serves as vice chair of the Board of Trustees.
