Commercial Burglary Suspect Apprehended on March 19

INDIO — A 42-year-old resident of Indio was taken into custody March 19 in connection with a string of commercial burglaries, according to Sgt. Patrick Mushinskie.

Charles Emmanuel Cobb was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for 17 counts of commercial burglary. A bail enhancement was obtained for $1 million.

Between February and March 2024, numerous businesses throughout the Coachella Valley were victims of window-smash burglaries. Members of the Thermal Sheriff Station’s La Quinta Special Enforcement Team (SET) assumed the investigation. During the follow up investigation, the suspect was identified as Cobb.

On March 19, 2024, the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team, with the assistance of Thermal Sheriff’s Station Investigations, Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station Investigations, Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station Special Enforcement Team, Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station Business District Team, and Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station Burglary Suppression Unit, served a search warrant at Cobb’s home in Indio. Cobb was located and arrested without incident.

These burglaries are still being investigated, and further follow-up investigation will be conducted.
