INDIO — Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine is bringing COVID-19 testing to the medically underserved areas of the East Valley.

Testing will be held in Indio on Friday, June 5th and Saturday, June 6th, 2020, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Oasis School, Salon Multiusos, 88125 Avenue 74 in Thermal.

Providing free COVID-19 nucleic acid PCR testing with pharyngeal (throat) swab will help prevent the virus spread, estimate how many people may need medical intervention before they get very ill and assess the need for adequate face covers and other personal protective equipment.

“All of the residents of the East Valley must be included in our public health efforts as their work is imperative to a robust food chain for all Americans,” said Stewart B. Fleishman, Chair of the Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine Board of Directors.

Those administering the tests are Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine, Rep. Raul Ruiz, M.D., Vision y Compromiso – Coachella, College of the Desert, CR School of Medicine, and Cal State University Palm Desert School of Nursing
