Homicide claims at least one victim in unincorporated area of Coachella

Shortly before midnight on Thursday, March 2nd, deputies from the Thermal Station responded to a call of shots fired near the 84000 block of Lingayan Avenue in the unincorporated area of Coachella. The shots would eventually become a homicide.

Upon arrival, evidence of a shooting was discovered; however, no victims or other involved parties were located. Shortly after, deputies received information that two gunshot victims were dropped off at a local hospital. It was determined the two victims were involved in the initial call on Lingayan. One of the victims, an unidentified male, later died as a result of his injuries. The other victim remains in critical condition.

Additionally, a third unidentified male gunshot victim was brought into a different local hospital and was in stable condition. Information was developed that this victim was also involved in the initial shooting call on Lingayan Avenue.

Investigators from the Thermal Station and the Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigation is currently ongoing. There are no suspects in custody, and no further information will be released at this time.
