There is something innate in veterans. They stand ready to help no matter what, or where the situation might be.

VFW post 1534 Joseph L Stone is raising money to help those who lost so much in Hurricane Irma in Florida in September.

“We have a heart as veterans and want to do more to help Florida in its time in need,” Stone said in his Facebook post.

The Desert Hot Springs-based post is collecting nonperishable food items, batteries, flashlights, hygiene items, baby food, diapers, and pet food. The post is also seeking money to help pay for the truck and gas to make the delivery.

Do you know someone who might donate a truck to make the trip? If so, contact the Post on its Facebook page.

Whatever money left over will be donated back to the local VFW in that state to give to the community.
