RANCHO MIRAGE — This is the time of year when fun in the desert starts to take shape for autumn, and ‘Drag’ Me to Giving Brunch to benefit Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine is just one of the many.

'Drag' Me to Giving Brunch 2022 Set

Bella Da Ball

You will want to drag yourself to this event Sunday, Oct. 16th to join emcee, Bella da Ball and a few of her friends for margaritas, a Mexican taco grill brunch with entertainment by Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles, the first LGBTQ+ mariachis in the world.

If the name sounds familiar, it’s because this was the entertainment the late Mayor Gregory S. Pettis chose to have when he took the oath as mayor.

“We are excited to be able to gather again this year and have some fun while raising awareness of all that Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine does within the community,” Mary Martin-Coor said. The addition of the Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles makes this an event you don’t want to miss!”

Tickets are $50 each and are available by clicking here or by contacting Mary Martin-Coor at (760) 675-0737 for more information.  No tickets are sales available at the door.

The event is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 37266 Palm View Road in Rancho Mirage.

Following is a clip from the group’s performance in Cathedral City.

Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles is has the first transgender female, Natalia Melendez, in the history of mariachi as one of its members. Melendez has been featured in a two-part special for Univision news, which depicts her life and struggles as a transgender woman in the mariachi world. As a result of this two-part special, in its short existence, Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles has been invited to perform for 3 different morning news shows on Univision, which includes the “Lanzate” program. During each one of these presentations, the mariachi was highlighted because of its special nature in representing the LGBTQ community.

Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles has also performed for Los Angeles and Long Beach Pride, Transgender Pride at the LGBT Center in Los Angeles, South Bay Pride, Oceanside Pride, The Abbey, Club Tempo, Hamburger Mary’s, #SchoolsNotPrisons tour for the California Endowment, and many other LGBTQ establishments as well as for many same-sex and “traditional” weddings.
