El Mirador Surgery Center Named on Newsweek’s America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2022 List

PALM SPRINGS — El Mirador Surgery Center, on the campus of Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, has found itself in some prestigious company. It is on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) for 2022.

The El Mirador ASC has also landed in the top 10 list for Newsweek’s California Ambulatory Surgery Centers. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The full list can be viewed by clicking here.

According to Newsweek, ambulatory surgical centers have become a big part of American medicine. These are facilities where patients can have specific surgical procedures that usually don’t require them to be hospitalized, meaning you can have the operation and then be back home quickly, often the same day. Currently there are more than 5,000 Medicare-certified ambulatory surgical centers around the country in all the major surgical specialties – orthopedic surgery, cardiac surgery, eye surgery, spinal surgery and so on.

The America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2022 list highlights the nation’s top ambulatory surgery centers based on quality of care, performance data and peer recommendations, relative to in-state competition. Centers in the 25 states with the highest number of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), were included in the study. States included: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.

“The team at the El Mirador Surgery Center is proud to be recognized on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers, 2022,” Ian Mullings, administrator of the El Mirador Surgery Center, said in a prepared statement. “Our mission is to treat each and every one of our patients and their families, as if they were our own family member.  Each patient, each family, each and every time.  It’s our pleasure to care for our community.”
