Twenty-nine Palms Band of Mission Indians to Donate 1,000 Free Backpacks of School Supplies to Local Students

COACHELLA – The Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians will donate 1,000 free backpacks filled with school supplies to students from five schools in the Coachella Valley.

Starting at 6 p.m. today, Aug. 5, team members will hand out the backpacks at the new Coachella Crossroads entertainment venue, located at 46605 Dillon Road in Coachella, near Spotlight 29 Casino. The backpacks will be donated in a drive-through process, ensuring that the recipients and the Tribal volunteers will be able to hand out the backpacks in a safe manner. Backpacks will be given to each child in the vehicle while supplies last and only one backpack will be handed out per child.

The free backpacks will include valuable school supplies including notebooks, binders, pens, pencils, erasers, protractors, rulers, and much more. This backpack giveaway is generously sponsored by Miracle of Dreams Foundation, an organization that inspires hope and overall well-being to local youth and communities, and Foam Bond, a quality roofing corporation.

“Supporting our community’s students and giving back to them is a primary goal of our Tribe and a personal commitment from me, ” said Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians Tribal Chairman Darrell Mike. “We know that times are challenging these days, so we are delighted that we can help our Valley students by providing the school supplies they will need to be productive in the coming school year.”
