Keep your New Year’s Resolutions with free yoga classes

CATHEDRAL CITY — For the second consecutive year, the stunning Cathedral City Community Amphitheater will serve as the backdrop for free yoga classes.

The free yoga lessons debuted last year in large part due to Antonio Baciu, volunteer program coordinator, and he has been tirelessly promoting this year’s sessions. He is a man who doesn’t just talk, he walks his talk.

Free Yoga Classes Offered in Cathedral City

“I do the outdoor yoga class at Sunnylands, and when we built our beautiful amphitheater in Cathedral City, I thought, ‘What if we did that here in Cathedral City?’ Well, the response was great, averaging 100 people in our power yoga class,” Baciu told Uken Report. “For season two, we are adding a slower Gentle Yoga class. Some people thought the Power Yoga class was too hard. Hopefully we can bring those people and others back to the new class. I’m very excited for this new season.”

If you’re looking for some motivation to keep those New Year’s Resolutions, join yoga teachers Patti Wexler and Nicole Cuhney every Tuesday morning, Jan. 10 through March 28 for two free yoga classes.

Gentle Yoga is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and Power Yoga is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Cathedral City Community Amphitheater, 68526 Avenida Lalo Guerrero, Cathedral City. Watch for articles on the two different classes in the days ahead.

A limited number of mats and blocks are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring your own yoga mat, bottled water, and hand towel. No need to RSVP, just show up and participate.

For more information contact volunteer program coordinator Antonio Baciu at adbpsca@verizon.net.

The classes are sponsored by the Cathedral City Parks and Community Events Commission.

The Parks and Community Events Commission assess the recreational services and facilities of the community. It makes recommendations to the City Council on such matters as implementation of the Parks Master Plan, parks facilities and usage, funding and sponsorship solicitation, recreational programming, special events and cooperative partnerships with other agencies, businesses and organizations to leverage resources.
