Indio City Council dedicating funds to organizations serving local businesses

INDIO – The city of Indio is encouraging nonprofit organizations or local governmental agencies to apply for funding under its annual Community Grant/Sponsorship Program.

Made available by the Indio City Council, the program is for the current fiscal year, with $45,000 available, and runs through June 30, 2021. The deadline to apply is December 31, 2020. Applications can be found on the City of Indio’s website.

“The Indio Community Grant/Sponsorship Program helps to create new opportunities to improve the quality of life for our residents and also, to strengthen our business community,” said Indio Mayor Glenn Miller. “There are many amazing local organizations in Indio and the Coachella Valley. This program, which is especially needed now, provides small grants or fee waivers to encourage them in their service missions.  We look forward to partnering with them through this program and helping uplift our community together.”

The sponsorship program requirements are as follows:

  1. To be eligible for in-kind assistance, a sponsorship or fee waiver, an organization must provide evidence that the activity will benefit the city or its residents by: (i) enhancing the quality of life or the delivery of services in the community or (ii) strengthening the business community in the city,  supporting the city’s overall economic development program or enhancing Indio’s marketing capacity and recognition in the region.
  2. To be eligible for monetary assistance in the form of a grant, an organization must be a local governmental entity serving citizens of the city, or a recognized non-profit organization as described by the Internal Revenue Code, such as 501(c)3, that is in good standing in the State of California and one that provides services or other community benefits to the residents of Indio by: (i) enhancing the quality of life or the delivery of services in the community; or (ii) strengthening the business community, supporting the city’s overall economic development program or enhancing Indio’s marketing capacity and recognition in the region.
