CATHEDRAL CITY – McDonald’s is opening its doors in a new location in this community and some of the biggest names among superheroes will be on hand to help celebrate.

The public is welcome to attend the grand opening the Shalhoub Family’s newest McDonald’s location in Cathedral City, at the intersection of Bob Hope Drive and Varner Road, on Saturday, March 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Grand reopening activities include photo opportunities with superheroes including Wonder Woman, Super Girl, Spiderman and Batman, plus giveaways and prize drawings.

This McDonald’s, which will be open for business staring Saturday, March 16, has a modern design with a light and bright interior, plus patio seating. It offers the latest in technology, making it more convenient and faster than ever to enjoy breakfast, lunch dinner and everything in between.

The restaurant features electronic games for children or those young at heart. Self-service kiosks allow customers to place their own order and have it served tableside. Another convenient way to save time is to download the McDonald’s app and place an order on the way to the restaurant. Upon arrival customers can enter the restaurant or curbside service also is available. For those not wanting to venture out, McDelivery service is available through Uber Eats.

“We are excited to offer a convenient location with easy access for those traveling along Interstate 10, as well as for residents and visitors,” said Dick Shalhoub, owner-operator of Coachella Valley McDonald’s restaurants. “We know everyone will love the modern restaurant and the patio seating is a welcomed addition.”

The new McDonald’s is part of a new, 9-acre, freeway-oriented development called The Crossings at Bob Hope  at the southeast corner of Bob Hope Drive and Varner Road that includes a hotel.

It is the first new project, estimated at $50 million, in the recently annexed area of Cathedral City. Major improvements include a 98-room Best Western Plus hotel, a McDonald’s, Starbucks, Taco Bell, and an Arco AM PM Fueling Center, according to Chris Parman, Communications/Events Manager. The hotel, described as upper-midscale, will anchor the development. It will include a pool/spa area and exercise room.
