Mission Springs Water District Recognized with California Water Environment Association State Honors
DESERT HOT SPRINGS — Mission Springs Water District (MSWD) has received two state honors from the California Water Environment Association (CWEA), recognizing the District’s continued excellence in wastewater operations and community engagement and outreach, MSWD leaders announced Tuesday.
During this year’s awards program, MSWD earned second place in the Plant of the Year (Small) category for operations and maintenance at the District’s state of the art Nancy Wright Regional Water Reclamation Facility. The facility represents MSWD’s ongoing investment in reliable wastewater treatment infrastructure and environmental stewardship.
In addition, the District received third place in the Outreach and Engagement Program of the Year (Small) category for its internship partnership with the Desert Hot Springs High School REAL Academy. The program provides local students with hands-on experience in the water and wastewater industry, helping develop future workforce opportunities while connecting students to careers in public utilities.
“These awards are a reflection of our team’s dedication to operational excellence, innovation, and community partnership,” said MSWD Board President Amber Duff. “From maintaining critical infrastructure to investing in local students, Mission Springs Water District remains committed to protecting public health, safeguarding water resources, and serving our community with distinction.”
Founded in 1928, the California Water Environment Association is a statewide organization that supports wastewater professionals through training, professional development, public education, and industry leadership.
