MSWD Wins Multiple Honors From Regional California Water Environment Association [Sponsored]
DESERT HOT SPRINGS — Mission Springs Water District is proud to celebrate its continued leadership in the wastewater industry after earning three prestigious regional awards from the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) and its Colorado River Basin Section this past weekend.
The District took home honors in multiple categories, including:
- Outreach and Engagement Program of the Year for MSWD’s internship program with the Desert Hot Springs High School REAL Academy
- Small Plant of the Year for operations and maintenance at MSWD’s new Nancy Wright Regional Water Reclamation Facility
- The “Gizmos and Gadget” Award for a shield District wastewater operators Mark Vermeer and Joey McElrone created to help prevent the wind from blowing debris out of the wastewater grit chamber
“These awards reflect our unwavering commitment to excellence. At MSWD, we don’t just meet standards—we strive to elevate them,” said MSWD Board President Amber Duff. “Every innovation, every improvement, and every partnership demonstrates our dedication to protecting our community’s water resources and delivering exceptional service.”
Founded in 1928, CWEA unites wastewater professionals throughout the state. Together they address real-time issues, develop and deliver cutting-edge training, raise awareness of the profession, and shape the future of wastewater.
