Cathedral City police release photo of suspect in killing of Outpost Market owner

CATHEDRAL CITY — Cathedral City police on Tuesday released a photo of a suspect they believe is responsible for the deadly shooting of the clerk/owner of Outpost Market on Ramon Road.

Chris Sgouromitis, 61, of Cathedral City died over the weekend following an armed robbery inside the business at 68171 Ramon Road. Responding officers found Sgouromitis had been shot multiple times. They attempted to provide him medical care, but, Sgouromitis died at the scene.

At about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, police received 911 reports of an armed robbery at the Outpost Market, 68171 Ramon Road and that the store’s clerk/owner had been shot.

The Cathedral City Police Department Detectives are actively working leads in this case and have been provided information being circulated throughout social media. All information is being sorted through and validated for its authenticity and validity to this investigation.
