Application Deadline for PSUSD Superintendent Search Now Passed

PALM SPRINGS — The Palm Springs Unified School Board is in the process of conducting an Executive Search for the District’s next Superintendent following the abrupt departure of Mike Swize.

Leadership Associates, an executive search firm based in Glendora, was selected to advise the Board in this process.

The application deadline was Friday. The number of applicants, whether there are internal candidates, and any other details are not being disclosed.

“Though the application window closed (Friday), the consultants have a lot of work to do, and the Board will not get the applications and info on the applicants until mid- to late October,” Joan Boiko, Coordinator of Communications & Community Outreach Palm Springs Unified School District, told Uken Report. “Even at that time, these are personnel matters and will not be disclosed to the public.”

The next step in the process is for the consultants to complete comprehensive reference and background checks on the applicants.

At 9 a.m. on Oct. 26, The board will meet in a special closed session to confer with consultants and review all applications. During the 2-to-3-hour session, the board is expected to select candidates it wants to interview.

In a special meeting on Nov. 4, the board is scheduled to interview candidates and select finalists. This will be done in a daylong, closed session.

Tony Signoret is currently the interim Superintendent of Schools.

The new superintendent is scheduled to begin Jan. 4.
