PALM SPRINGS — A special 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 in honor of all those who lost their lives on that day tragic day 18 years ago.

The Palm Springs Fire Department welcomes the entire Coachella Valley to attend.

The remembrance ceremony, conducted by the Palm Springs Fire Department Honor Guard, will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 in front of the 9/11 Memorial at Fire Department Headquarters, 300 N. El Cielo Road. The program will begin at 5:46 a.m. with a moment of silence. All flags will be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset.

“The Palm Springs Fire Department invites everyone in our community to join us on Sept. 11 to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives on that terrible day 18 years ago,” Chief Kevin Nalder said in a prepared statement. “We can never thank them enough for their service and —we will never forget.”

That evening, a 9/11 Candlelight Vigil will be held in La Quinta.

The 9/11 Candlelight Vigil will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Civic Center Campus, 78495 Calle Tampico.

Residents are encouraged to join their neighbors at the September 11 Candlelight Vigil to honor the victims of the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Shanksville, PA terror attacks. This event will feature musical performances, speeches by local dignitaries, and public art composed from World Trade Center building remnants.
