Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Indio Public Safety Campus Scheduled for November 20, 2024, at 9 a.m.

INDIO — The official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new $50 million Indio Public Safety Campus, a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance safety and emergency response capabilities for the community, is set.

The event will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 9 a.m. at 46835 Bristol St.

After two years of construction, the campus stands as a significant investment in the safety and security of Indio’s residents. The facility will house cutting-edge technology and resources to support the city’s dedicated first responders in providing swift, coordinated, and effective responses to emergencies.

“The safety of our residents is paramount,” said Mayor Lupe Ramos Amith. “This campus represents our commitment to ensuring that our first responders have the tools they need to protect and serve our growing community. It’s a vital addition to the infrastructure of Indio.”

The Indio Public Safety Campus consists of three separate buildings, totaling approximately 43,000 square feet:

  • The new Indio Fire Station, approximately 13,500 square feet
  • A new 7,000-square-foot dispatch center
  • A 22,000-square-foot public safety service building

“As our city grows, so does the need for a robust public safety system,” said Indio Police Chief Brian Tully. “This enhanced Public Safety Campus equips us to handle current challenges and prepares us for the future, ensuring that we continue to meet the highest standards of public safety.”

Attendees of the ribbon cutting will enjoy a ceremony followed by a tour of the new campus, offering a first look at the advanced features of the facility and how it will serve as the cornerstone of public safety efforts in the region.

“This new campus symbolizes our city’s dedication to public safety,” said Indio Fire Division Chief Bryan White. “It not only supports our firefighters but also provides an environment where we can train, prepare, and improve our readiness for any type of emergency.”

Phase two of the Public Safety Campus is currently underway in the design phase and expected to go to bid in Summer 2025. Construction is anticipated to begin Fall 2025.
