Ribbon-cutting Celebration Set for Newly Installed Playground Equipment at Victoria Park

PALM SPRINGS — A long-awaited ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the installation of the new playground equipment at Victoria Park, is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Victoria Park, 2744 N. Via Miraleste.

The event will kick off in the park with opening remarks from Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein, Councilmember Grace Garner, Measure J Commissioner Naomi Soto and Parks and Recreation Commissioner Jase Nagaia followed by a community ribbon-cutting.

Immediately following the ceremony, the city will host a free KidsFest in the Park for local children and their families, featuring live music, water activities, interactive games, and delicious food.

Measure J is a one-cent sales tax increase approved by Palm Springs voters in 2011 to provide a source of revenue to maintain local community services while helping to economically revitalize the City’s downtown core. For more than a decade, Measure J tax dollars have helped fund a wide variety of important community projects that have transformed Palm Springs, including hundreds of miles of Citywide street paving, upgrades and renovations to the Dog Park, the Police Department and Fire stations, restoration of historic buildings such as the Welwood Murray Memorial Library, the historic Plaza Theatre, and a plethora of upgrades to parks and recreational facilities as well as the construction of the wildly popular Downtown Park.

Victoria Park is located at 2744 N. Via Miraleste on 8 acres. Picnic tables, volleyball court, grills, tot lot, play structure, sheltered picnic area, drinking fountains, and restroom facilities are on the property. Open until 10:00 p.m. To reserve the park, please click here.
