Cathedral City Council Member Rita Lamb Suffers Heart Attack
CATHEDRAL CITY — As neighbors marched in the Cove on Sunday to protest the behavior of a woman who is using a bullhorn to shout racist and homophobic slurs to disrupt the peace., someone rang Councilmember Rita’s doorbell, which is located in the Cove and is the District she represents. Councilmember Lamb’s protective husband, David, stepped outside to say that she had had a heart attack and needed rest. The comments made their way to social media inducing fear among some readers.
Yes, the Council member did have a heart attack, but it was a month ago. The incident happened in her home. She was able to call 911 and was taken to a local hospital when she had a stent put in, she told Uken Report.
She thought it was indigestion
Lamb is home, attending City Council meetings and living life.
Lamb was completely transparent about the incident. She recounted that dreadful day from the dais, publicly thanked by name the first responders and used the incident to remind women to pay attention to their bodies.
In recognition of National Wear Red Day on Friday, we share Lamb’s story of triumph.
Even though heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the U.S., women often chalk up the symptoms to less life-threatening conditions such as acid reflux, the flu or normal aging, according to the American Heart Association.
Many women think the signs of a heart attack are unmistakable. But the signs may not be obvious and might be confusing. Even when the signs are subtle, the outcomes can be deadly, especially if the person doesn’t get help right away.
If you have any of these signs, call 911 and get to a hospital right away.

- Pain or discomfort in one the: Arms (one or both), Back, Neck, Jaw or Stomach
- Shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort.
- Other signs, include: Breaking out in a cold sweat, Nausea or Lightheadedness
Be well, Councilmember Lamb.
