Road Repair Project Completed in Desert Hot Springs Area Neighborhood
BUBBLING WELLS NEIGHBORHOOD – A $432,000 road project to fix a crumbling street in the county’s unincorporated area near the city of Desert Hot Springs has been completed. The project was paid for with the county’s SB 1 funds, generated from the gas taxes and vehicle registration fees paid by motorists.
Work on the project began in late March and was completed this week.
The Camino Aventura Resurfacing Project reconstructed a quarter-mile segment of Camino Aventura, between Bubbling Wells Road and Yerxa Road, in the neighborhood around Bubbling Wells Elementary School.
Camino Aventura was in deteriorated shape, requiring pavement reconstruction. The work consisted of removing the existing asphalt concrete pavement and repaving with hot mix asphalt concrete, essentially rebuilding the road in that section.
“I am happy to see another improvement by the Riverside County Transportation Department,” Supervisor V. Manuel Perez said in a prepared statement. “We continue to invest in our local road infrastructure and do road repairs, which bring up pavement conditions throughout the county and improve the community with better and safer roads to drive on.”
The neighborhood around Bubbling Wells Elementary School is an unincorporated community of Riverside County. The neighborhood did not have sidewalks when it was developed. Over the last decade, Riverside County has built a network of sidewalk improvements to provide safe routes to school. The City of Desert Hot Springs has also made improvements including a traffic signal, crosswalks, and creation of a safety corridor on Palm Drive to enhance safety for pedestrians near this neighborhood.
Construction of the Camino Aventura road repair project was done by Hardy & Harper, Inc. of Lake Forest.
