Veterans Fishing Day Trout Derby will be held Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park
What do you do when a first-time event is more successful than you could have hoped? You do it again. That’s why Riverside County Fourth District Supervisor is holding the second Veterans Fishing Day Trout Derby on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park.
Last year, some 350 participants joined the fun at Lake Cahuilla Regional Veterans Park for the Inaugural Fishing Derby. Children from 5 years old and Veterans as old as 76 years old showed up to fish or to support family and friends that were trying to catch the longest fish.
The regional park is the only county park that is named to honor Veterans and our military.
The derby is open to everyone, and starts at 7 a.m., with prizes awarded at noon.
Please pre-register online at http://bit.ly/veteransfishingderby. Admission and fishing are free for veterans, military and everyone in the vehicle; general admission is $15 ($10 admission/fishing collected at the gate and $5 CASH derby fee at the derby booth). A state fishing license is required for all over the age of 16 to fish.
This event will benefit local veterans’ organizations. The supervisor’s Veterans Cabinet is helping organize this event, alongside the Desert Recreation District, the Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District and other organizations.
