Fully renovated basketball, pickleball and tennis courts to be unveiled at new sport courts.
COACHELLA – The sport courts at Bagdouma Park are primed and ready for play as the city of Coachella celebrates a formal ribbon cutting Thursday, July 27th at 7:30 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to come out to enjoy an evening of free food, fun giveaways, a raffle and a live pickleball exhibition game and demonstration courtesy of the USA Pickleball Association and Desert Recreation District.

Mayor Steven Hernandez
“Creating recreational opportunities are so important because they not only draw our community closer together, but they encourage health and wellness among our residents which continues to be a top priority for our city,” Coachella Mayor Steven Hernandez said in a statement. “It was great that we were able to enhance the experience at Bagdouma Park by not only incorporating additional sports, but our city’s brand and our local high school colors that we take so much pride in.”
Major updates were made to all three sport courts, which included construction of a new fiber-mesh concrete court slab, the removal and replacement of existing benches, basketball goal posts and hoop assemblies, installation of tennis and pickleball posts, nets, and appurtenances, new surfacing and striping in Coachella Valley High School’s color theme of green and yellow. Installation of an access ramp and handrail from the east parking lot to the courts was also completion, in addition to several other improvements and upgrades.
“These updated courts serve as a testament to our commitment to providing top-notch amenities to our residents who are so deserving of this,” added Councilmember Denise Delgado. “Pickleball has become a phenomenon, so to be able to partake in that sport is our own City is a huge deal!”
Friday’s ribbon-cutting event will kick off with a statement from the Mayor of Coachella, followed by Kevin Kalman, Desert Recreation District General Manager and Dick Kupskey, USA Pickleball Ambassador District Director, and City Councilmembers who are present.
