Coachella’s spring series of free movies kicks off Friday at Bagdouma Park

COACHELLA – Fridays in May will bring a full lineup of free movies to Coachella for our spring series of Movies in the Park. Beginning Friday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m., family-friendly movies will be presented on a large viewing screen at Bagdouma Park near the volleyball courts. Guests are asked to bring portable folding chairs and blankets. Free popcorn will be provided.

“Movies in the Park offer a wonderful recreational outlet for our community,” Mayor Steven Hernandez said in a statement. “I remember my family not having the resources to go to the theater when I was a kid, and movies in the park was our go-to. We are proud to have this option available to our local families.”

Each Friday will present a different movie for enjoyment, starting with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on May 5 Puss in Boots: The Last Wish on May 12, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile on May 19, and Strange World on May 26.

“What a wonderful way for families and kiddos to share time and make special memories together, and not to mention the health benefits of being outdoors,” Councilmember Denise Delgado said in a statement. “I look forward to seeing everyone out there.”

Movies in the Park is presented by the city of Coachella in partnership with Desert Recreation District. For more information, visit myrecreationdistrict.com or Coachella.org.
