Steve Sanchez Concedes to Fourth District Supervisor V. Manuel Perez

LA QUINTA — Two weeks after the California Statewide Primary, La Quinta City Councilmember Steve Sanchez has conceded the Riverside County Fourth District Supervisor’s race to incumbent V. Manuel Perez.

In a poignant and candid social media post Tuesday evening, Sanchez wrote, “The election is over, and the people have spoken.”

In the post, Sanchez talks of his disappointment — even anger — as the votes came in on election night. He wanted and hoped for a different outcome.

It takes a confident person and one of character to talk publicly about the disappointment, hurt and anger that accompanies a public defeat.

In his post, he wrote, “If you would honor me with a few minutes of your time, I’d appreciate you watching or listening to this short video message. It’s not really about an election. It’s about service, perseverance, citizenship, and what comes next.
If you’re driving home from work, relaxing this evening, or spending time with your family, I hope you’ll take a few moments to listen. If you have children or grandchildren, this may even be a good opportunity to talk with them about civic participation, public service, and the importance of being engaged in our communities and our Republic.

“I am truly humbled by this community and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving as your La Quinta City Councilman.

“Thank you for your support. As always, I welcome your        thoughts, comments, and feedback, and if the message resonates with you, please feel free to share it with others.    The election is over. The mission continues

He posted the following video shortly before 8 p.m.

Take a listen. You will be glad you did.
