Supervisor Perez to Serve as 2025 Riverside County Chairman
RIVERSIDE – For the second time since being elected, Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez will serve as chair of the Board of Supervisors. His colleagues selected him for the position Tuesday.
The first time he served as chair was in 2020 when he led the county through the historic COVID-19 pandemic. Five years ago, he made history in Riverside County — on two fronts. Perez was the first Latino on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and was the first chair of the Board of Latino heritage.
Perez joined the Board of Supervisors in 2017 and was elected to a full four-year term in 2018. He ran unopposed in 2022.
Some of the priorities that Supervisor Perez is looking forward to tackling this year are housing, infrastructure, animal services, air quality and environmental concerns. As chair, he facilitates the meetings for the county and is looking forward to getting residents engaged on the county budget, according to his communications director. Perez’s overall focus is to ensure a great quality of life throughout the County of Riverside and to always strive to do more for all of our residents and communities.
Karen Spiegel, Riverside County Second District Supervisor, will serve as vice chair of the Board of Supervisors, which now includes a new member, Supervisor Jose Medina, who was sworn in today at the first Board meeting of the year.
“I am proud to be serve once again as the Board Chair and thank my colleagues for this honor and responsibility,” said Supervisor Perez. “Welcome 2025 and welcome Supervisor Medina, here we go!”
Perez represents the Fourth Supervisorial District on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. The largest district in the county by geography, the Fourth District covers eastern Riverside County, from Whitewater, stretching across the entire Coachella Valley south to the Salton Sea, up Highway 74 to Idyllwild and the mountain communities, and heading east of the Coachella Valley to Blythe and the Colorado River.
