Today we share how the Field Family celebrates “National Love Your Pet Day” with Josie and Rosie

National Love Your Pet Day is an unofficial holiday which is celebrated annually on February 20th. The purpose of this holiday is to encourage pet owners to spend some time with their pets and show them the love and affection they deserve. It doesn’t matter if you own a cat, dog, bird, fish or reptile, today is the day to pamper them and show them how much they mean to you.

This year, we are showcasing two pairs of two very special sisters: Grace Field and Carley Field; and their fury canine, companion sisters, Josie and Rosie. Located in Carmel, Indiana (not to be confused with Carmel-by-the-Sea, this city is Carmel (by the cornfields), located just north of Indianapolis.

When it comes to their pets, this family can’t stop loving their female pups, Josie (a yellow Labradoodle flat coat) and Rosie (a GoldenDoodle). “Josie is whoever you need her to be. She can just tell when you’re feeling down or sad and will be right by your side.” says Grace.  “When it comes to Rosie, she has a special way of always making you laugh and smile. Her eyes and expressions are human-like, and she uses her big floppy paws like hands, it’s unreal!”, says Carley.

Unconditional Love

Chrissy Field shares her unconditional love.

And of course, we all know who really takes care of our sisters right? Yes! Dear ol’ mom, Chrissy Field. “Personally, I think it’s the other way around, these two really do take care of us.  Josie, especially, has been a great therapy dog through major surgeries to minor heartaches…never leaving our side.  And Rosie, she is following in Josie’s footsteps and spreads happiness wherever she goes, not to mention the best snuggle bug ever!”, says Chrissy. According to Chrissy, “I believe pets are windows to our souls. They reveal and can restore our childlike wonder and vulnerability that we often lose as we grow older. They teach trust, patience, compassion and commitment. In other words – true unconditional love.”

Celebrate National Love Your Pet Day

There are many things that differentiate humans from the rest of the animal kingdom, but one of the more unusual behaviors is our longstanding tendency to keep other animals as pets. Gallup reports that 60% of Americans are current pet owners. It only makes sense to commemorate something that’s so important to so many people, so on Feb. 20, we celebrate our pets with National Love Your Pet Day!
