Women Patriots to Host Runway Fashion Show

East Valley Republican Women Patriots present Honoring Volunteers Runway Show

PALM DESERT — Two Broadway stars, Terri Olsen and Patricia Welch, will be the featured guests when East Valley Republican Women Patriots presents “Honoring Volunteers Fashion Runway Show” on Monday, April 3.

Olsen’s first Broadway show was “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” She went on to perform in three more Broadway shows: “Into the Light” (starring Dean Jones), “Starlight Express” and “Jerry’s Girls” (starring Chita Rivera, Leslie Uggams and the late Dorothy Loudon).

She also performed back-up vocals on what would become Carly Simon’s hit song “Coming Around Again.”

From 2012 to 2014 Terri was a featured performer in The Fabulous Palm Spring Follies until it closed its doors after 23 years.

Welch starred with the late Yul Brynner in the role of Tuptim on Broadway in the famous musical “The King & I.”

In the Britney Spears “Brave New Girl” movie, two actresses who played the roles of Holly and Angela, lip-synced to Welch’s voice. Welch toured with Robert Goulet. She was the featured soloist and sang duets with Mr. Goulet in his show “The Man And His Music.”

In 2005 and 2006 Welch was a featured soloist in the Wayne Newton Show.

Welch performed a duet with Robert Goulet, for a 2007 PBS Special.

The Honoring Volunteers Fashion Runway Show” and lunch will be held at the Agua Caliente Casino Cahuilla Ballroom, 32-250 Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage. Shopping begins at 9:30 a.m. Ballroom doors open at 11 a.m. The program begins at 11:30 a.m.

Fashions shown will be by August Brock, Chrissy’s on El Paseo, Coco Rose, Daisy Blue, De La Croce Jewelry, Gaby’s Boutique, Hazel Bags & Apparel, and the Patriot Store.

Cost is $75 for members and $85 for nonmembers.
