Desert Sands Educational Foundation invites the community to the Second Annual Children’s Art and Music Festival, CAMFest 2018, on Saturday, Dec. 15, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

Desert Sands Educational Foundation supports Desert Sands Unified School District.

Last year’s CAMFest 2017 raised more than $45,000. Net proceeds provided funding to 44 teachers and schools collectively, to enhance art and music programs for the children in Desert Sands Unified School District.  Funding for the arts continues to be limited in our schools, often relying on such fundraising efforts and grant money.

The importance of the arts and its correlation to improved academic performance is well documented.  Community support is key in helping to make CAMFest 2018 a success and to further expand art, music, dance, and theater instruction for our children.

As of today, 25 of the 34 schools in Desert Sands Unified School District are participating in CAMFest 2018, showcasing 17 art displays and 43 musical, dance, and theatrical performances. Five separate stages will be set up featuring alternating performances from the schools as choirs, bands, dance troupes, orchestras, and excerpts from plays currently or recently performed.

Throughout the day, local artists and musicians from Los Angeles and San Diego will also be performing and introducing instruments to the children. There will be school and informational booths, food vendors, storybook characters, face-painting, and many hands-on activities.

Proceeds from CAMFest 2018 will provide additional funding to DSUSD teachers and schools for art, music, dance, and theater programs.

Discounted adult tickets for CAMFest 2018 may be purchased from teachers at participating schools for $5 or online at www.DesertSandsEF.org for $10, or for $20 the day of the event. All tickets for children, ages 3 to 18, are $3.  Children participating in CAMFest 2018 enter for free with an identifying wristband.
