Cathedral City Police to Update Community on Bullhorn Bully

CATHEDRAL CITY — The Cathedral City Police Department recently launched a criminal investigation into a resident’s disruptive behavior and the emergence of video evidence showing the female resident using a bullhorn in a residential area, according to Ryan Hunt, communications director for the city. She has become known as the Bullhorn Bully.

According to Hunt, CCPD issued Antoinette Coleman citations last week (Feb. 6, 2025) for three criminal offenses:

  • Maliciously disturbing others
  • Using offensive words in a public place
  • Willful disobedience of a court order

This criminal case will be submitted to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office who will have the authority to determine the nature of the charges to file, Hunt said,

To communicate openly and transparently with residents, the CCPD encouraged residents of the Cathedral City Cove neighborhood to attend a community meeting Monday, Feb. 10, at 5:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers and will address recent incidents that have caused concern among community members.

Authorities do not want residents to take matters into their own hands as they did earlier this month when residents organized a demonstration against Coleman, on the 38-000 block of Charlesworth Drive in the Cathedral City Cove neighborhood.

The Cathedral City Police Department said it and city officials began investigating after allegations of her “using a bullhorn and yelling profanities and other offensive language.”

Law enforcement officials on Monday provided updates on their ongoing investigation into reported disturbances, including incidents involving an individual using a bullhorn to create noise disturbances in residential areas. Police Chief George Crum and other department representatives will be present to discuss the situation, outline steps being taken to address community concerns, and answer questions from residents.

The Monday forum was designed to answer questions and update residents on the situation, including the police investigation. Police Chief George Crum led the meeting. Deputy Chief Rick Sanchez and Commander Jon Enos also attended. City Manager Charlie McClendon, Mayor Nancy Ross and Councilmember Rita Lamb, who represents the Cove, also attended.

Michael Hayes, 62, the woman’s neighbor and a former city council candidate, has had longstanding issues with her and recorded the following video.

This meeting will provide residents the opportunity to receive direct updates on the ongoing investigation, learn about applicable local ordinances and laws, and share additional information or concerns with law enforcement. Officers will also explain proper procedures for reporting crimes and suspicious activities. Attendees will also be able to discuss strategies for maintaining neighborhood peace and safety and understand the process for reporting similar incidents.

Date: Monday, February 10, 2025
