INDIO — Two contemporary exhibitions featuring two creative women artists open Saturday, Jan. 11 and Sunday, Jan. 12 at the Coachella Valley Art Center.

On Jan. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Coachella Valley Art Center will host, Annetta Kapon —The Virtue of Necessity, nearly 300 small-scale collage works from Kapon’s Daily Collage series.

Since 2017, Annetta Kapon, the chairperson of graduate programs at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles has completed one collage per day as an avenue of connection between being an administrator and an artist.  Kapon uses magazines, newspapers, envelopes, any paper items readily available that contain inspiration.

Coachella Valley Art Center Celebrates Women

On Jan. 12, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., local artist, nessuno, will make public her installation, Retro-bution.  Retro-bution visually discusses the Women’s Movement from the 1960s to the present.  “nessuno” is the nom-de Arte of Leslie Dean Roth, a retired business woman who is active in the valley’s creative and philanthropic communities.

It is the mission of the Art Center to exhibit good works not seen in the valley and good work that others will not exhibit.  CVAC is a non-profit organization that does not receive financial support from the City of Indio, but instead depends upon public donations and earned income.

The Art Center is a conduit for creativity created by dedicated individuals to provide access to artists on all levels.
