Democrats of Desert Endorse 2024 Democratic Candidates for 4 Key Seats
Democrats of the Desert (DOD), one of the largest Democratic clubs in the Coachella Valley, endorsed four Democrats running for office at its August member meeting:
Congress – US House
- U.S. House Representative Raul Ruiz, incumbent in California’s 25th District.
- Former Federal Prosecutor Will Rollins, running for California’s 41st House District.
California – State Legislature
- Civil Rights Attorney and Palm Springs City Council Member Christy Holstege, running for
State Assembly District 47. - Palm Springs City Council Member Lisa Middleton, running for State Senate District 19.
“We held this endorsement process early because we want Coachella Valley voters to be aware of the strong progressive candidates that will likely be on their November 2024 General Election ballots after the Primary Election in March,” said DOD President Marcie Maxwell. “We encourage everyone to do their research, meet the candidates, and start supporting them now. We’re urging voters to commit to casting their votes up and down the entire ballot in both the Primary Election and the General Election.”
Maxwell noted that there are many ways voters can get involved now, working toward the November 2024 election.
Democrats of the Desert offers opportunities to learn about issues and meet candidates, plus participate in elections and advocacy workshops, calls to action, and informative monthly meetings. The Sept. 23 DOD meeting program will be on
women’s health and reproductive rights. This year Democrats of the Desert is celebrating its 25th anniversary and invites new members and friends to connect at https://www.desertdemocrats.org or contact marcie.maxwell@live.com.
“We’re planning a few anniversary-year special events you won’t want to miss,” Maxwell said.
