The Desert Art Center, which has been providing free art lessons for Palm Springs Unified middle-school students for the past six years, will hold its first Summer Art Camp in June, and registration is underway.
While the camp, for ages 10 through 14, is free, an enrollment fee will be collected with student application and refunded if the student attends all five classes of one of the two sessions. Sessions are scheduled for June 19-22 and June 25-29 and will include a choice of classes in Clay, Printmaking and Drawing/Painting. Classes are limited to 12 students each, and there will be two art teachers for each class.
Desert Art Center is a non-profit artists’ gallery located at 550 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs. For more information or to register, call Sally Hedberg at (925) 788-9862 or click here.
“It is a pleasure to once again be partnering with the Desert Art Center for art camp for middle schoolers,” said PSUSD Arts Coordinator Louisa Castrodale. “Our young people are so fortunate to have access to free, high-quality arts programming during the summer months, thanks to the hard work and generosity of DAC.”
In addition to announcing its first summer camp, Desert Art Center also recently announced their 2018 scholarship winners awarded to high school students who will be pursuing art-related majors in college. PSUSD scholarship winners included: Alexis Hernandez and Regina Isidoro, Mt. San Jacinto High; Vanessa Rojas and Blaze Bautista, Palm Springs High; and Alvaro Ulloa, Morgan Wash and Kevin Lopez, Cathedral City High.
