DESERT HOT SPRINGS —The Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force on Wednesday, June 11 arrested Jimmy Williams Jr., 44 of Desert Hot Springs without incident on suspicion of multiple charges.

About 1:30 p.m. that day the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force conducted a search warrant service at a residence in the 66000 block of First Street in the city.

Gang Task ForceThe warrant stemmed from an investigation into a theft of a firearm that occurred at a local gun store in the unincorporated area of Palm Desert on May 23rd, 2020. During the theft, which was captured on surveillance cameras, the suspect reached into a gun display case that was inadvertently left ajar and removed a Colt .38 Special Revolver. During the service of the search warrant, Task Force Officers arrested Williams Jr. without incident. Gang Task Force Officers located methamphetamine, .38 Special ammunition and a holster but did not recover the stolen firearm. Williams Jr. was charged with burglary, grand theft and possession of methamphetamine.
