Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez Appointed Vice Chair of Assembly Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs

Assemblymember Gonzalez
INDIO – Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez, R-Indio, 21-year U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran who served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, was recently appointed Vice Chair of the California State Assembly Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs:
“It’s an honor to step into this role—not just as a legislator,” Gonzalez said in a statement. This committee plays a critical role in how California supports our military members, veterans, and their families. I’ve lived that life. I know the sacrifices, and I know the gaps that still need to be closed.
As Vice Chair, I intend to be a voice for my brothers and sisters who don’t always speak up for themselves—and to work across the aisle to ensure our policies reflect the values of honor, courage, and commitment that define our military community.”
The Committee’s primary areas of interest are the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) and its programs, including the Farm and Home Loan Program, the VHHP, the CVSO Subvention Program and the Veterans Homes; and the California Military Department and its units, operations and programs, including the National Guard, the State Guard, CMD youth programs and the Cyber Network Defense team.
The Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs is located in the Legislative Office Building, 1020 N Street, Room 389 and phone number is (916) 319-3550.
Gonzalez represents Imperial County and portions of Riverside and San Bernardino County in the California Legislature. District 36 includes Anza, Blythe, Brawley, Calexico, Coachella, El Centro, Hemet, Holtville, Imperial, Indio, Mecca, Salton City, Thermal, Westmorland, Winchester, and Winterhaven.
