Perez to Host Breakfast and Townhall for Veterans

Supervisor V. Manuel Perez

INDIO – All veterans are welcome to join Supervisor V. Manuel Perez for breakfast and a townhall discussion on Friday to share their ideas and needs as well as learn about the latest initiatives for the veterans’ community.

The event will be held Friday, April 24 at the Indio American Legion Post, 44-200 Sun Gold Street, Indio, with breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., followed by a townhall until 11 a.m.

Steve Waggoner, Commander of the Herman Granados American Legion Post 739 in Indio, says: “We would like to invite all veterans to attend the town hall meeting to get information on events and upcoming projects that Supervisor Perez is working on for the Fourth District.”

The event is hosted by American Legion Post 739 and the Riverside County Department of Veterans’ Services and Veterans’ Advisory Committee. The meeting is also in partnership with the Desert Recreation District.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear about the vision for the county veterans’ services department from Director Adam French and Supervisor Perez. Several county departments and local partners will have a platform to speak on their programs that serve veterans, covering housing, veterans benefits, transportation and more.

“Veterans have sacrificed for our county, always bravely answering the call on a moment’s notice to fight for our country,” said Supervisor Perez. “We are committed to supporting veterans and making the Coachella Valley and County of Riverside more veteran-friendly. Please come and share how we can collaborate on new ideas and continue to win for our veterans.”

Perez has long=championed veterans’ issues particularly building up the county veterans’ services team to help veterans with services such as claims for benefits. With the addition of a new veterans’ services office in Desert Hot Springs in partnership with the city, services are now provided to both sides of the Coachella Valley in Indio and Desert Hot Springs. The team is at 33 staff, nearly double the 18 positions when Supervisor Perez started as a County Supervisor.

Perez is hosting the breakfast, which is provided at no cost for all who want to attend.
