Residents in need of food assistance during this unprecedented time in America will have the opportunity to get fresh food twice a month at a free mobile pantry that begins today, April 2 in the Palm Springs area thanks to a partnership with FIND Food Bank of the Coachella Valley, the desert’s regional food bank.

The convenient drive through “Rapid Response Pantry” will operate from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month in the parking lot across from the Palm Springs Convention Center, located on the corner of Avenida Caballeros and Amado Road.

“With so many Coachella Valley residents struggling to make ends meet, we are thankful we can provide fresh food to Palm Springs area residents who need our assistance,” Debbie Espinosa, CEO of FIND Food Bank, said in a prepared statement.

If you cannot make it to the distribution today, there will be many more distributions in Palm Springs and throughout the desert region. Local residents can click here to find when and  where additional valleywide distributions will take place using the “Distribution Finder” onthe website.

FIND Food Bank’s 10th annual Telethon is the day after the Palm Springs pantry distribution on Friday, April 3 from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. on KESQ News Channel 3, CBS Local 2 and Fox 11.

Espinosa said that her moperation is able to distribute so widely thanks in part to generous donations from residents across the Valley.

“Our residents have always been incredibly philanthropic, but now — when so many locals are truly struggling to put food on the table, we need you more than ever and encourage everyone who is financially able to consider making a much needed donation,” Espinosa said.

“At this time, when so many of our residents are facing an unprecedented need, the city is extremely appreciative of FIND for expanding their services in Palm Springs,” said Mayor Geoff Kors.
