Cathedral City Police Arrested Man for Tossing Bag of Kittens That Were Later Found Dead
CATHEDRAL CITY — A 54-year-old resident was arrested on Tuesday for tossing into a resident’s back yard a garbage bag that contained five kittens. The kittens were later found dead.
A resident reported that they found a bag with five dead kittens inside in their back yard on the 32-300 block of Aurora Vista Road around 2 p.m, Commander Nate Hanley wrote in a news release. Officers arrived at the scene to investigate and found surveillance footage that showed Jorge Ramirez of Cathedral City, tossing a trash bag over the resident’s fence on the morning of April 25.
Ramirez admitted that he put the kittens while they were alive into the bag and threw them in his interview with police, according to Hanley.
Authorities arrested and booked him into the John Benoit Detention Center on animal cruelty charges. He is out on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on June 3 at 7:30 a.m., jail records show.
