Man suspected of sexual assault from Palm Desert

PALM DESERT — A 65-year-old Palm Desert man was arrested Aug. 16 in the 39000 block of Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage in connection with a report of a sexual assault of a minor earlier this year, Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Daniel Milbrandt reported.

The arrest stems from an April 3 incident during which deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a sexual assault of a minor. The Palm Desert Investigations Bureau assumed the investigation and, through the course of the investigation, identified the suspect as Oscar William Alvarez.

On Aug. 16, investigators located Alvarez and he was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for multiple felony sexual assault charges against a minor.
