City of Desert Hot Springs Continues 60th Anniversary with photo contest

DESERT HOT SPRINGS — Maybe it’s the sweeping mountain views in all directions, or the therapeutic and calming warm water springs. Perhaps it’s the bright and vibrant murals, or the iconic and towering ‘Whispering Giant’ cutting an impressive silhouette on Miracle Hill. What makes you proud to say, “This is DHS”?

As part of the city’s continuing celebration of its ‘Diamond Anniversary,’ the City of
Desert Hot Springs is commemorating its uniqueness through a first-of-its-kind photo
contest.

The city invites amateur and professional photographers of all ages and skill levels to
share their favorite views of Desert Hot Springs.

One winner will be chosen in each of three categories and recognized by the City Council at a special ceremony in February 2024. Their photograph will also be featured on the city’s social media channels, and front-and-center on a billboard for thousands of drivers to view at the intersection of Palm Drive and Dillon Avenue.

Categories include:

  • Hometown pride (landmarks, businesses, parks, recognizable locations in the city, community and family life
  • Beautiful landscape (native landscape and open space, yard and gardens, rustic scenes, trails, sunrises and sunsets)
  • Animals (wildlife)

Photos must be submitted to https://www.cityofdhs.org/2023-photo-contest by Thursday, Dec. 14th, and be taken in Desert Hot Springs. Only one entry per person per category is allowed. Participants will be disqualified from the entire contest if more than one photo is submitted in a single category.
