PALM DESERT — Kevin Roberts, president of the Washington, D.C.-based Heritage Foundation, will speak in Rancho Mirage on Monday, Jan. 9.

The January luncheon is organized by East Valley Republican Women Patriots.

The Heritage Foundation is primarily geared toward public policy. The foundation took a leading role in the conservative movement during the presidency of Ronald Reagan, whose policies were taken from Heritage’s policy study Mandate for Leadership.

The Heritage Foundation has had significant influence in U.S. public policy making. It is among the most influential public policy organizations in the United States.

In 2020, for the third consecutive year, The Heritage Foundation was ranked as the No. 1 think tank in the world for “Significant Impact on Public Policy,” according to the latest edition of the University of Pennsylvania’s annual report on think tanks.

Roberts, Ph.D., was named president of The Heritage Foundation in October 2021. He succeeded former Heritage President Kay C. James as the seventh president in the organization’s 49-year history.

Roberts previously served as the chief executive officer of the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF), an Austin-based nonprofit, nonpartisan research institute and the largest state think tank in the nation. Under Roberts’ leadership, TPPF more than doubled in size. He also expanded the Texas think tank’s influence nationwide, opening an office in Washington, D.C., so that TPPF research might better inform federal policy debates.

The luncheon will be held in the Agua Caliente Casino Cahuilla Ballroom, 32-250 Bob Hope Drive, Check-in begins at 10 a.m., ballroom doors open at 11 a.m., and the program begins promptly at 11:30 a.m. Member price is $50, non-member price is $60.

Organizers say they are often bombarded with inquiries on how to reserve a table. It’s simple. Just get a minimum of eight PAID, maximum 10 paid tickets to any of the group’s luncheon events and email your list of Paid Attendees to Beverly Brunkhurst at evrwpluncheonreservations@gmail.com and she will reserve a table for you. Tables are assigned in the order she receives the list of PAID Attendees.
