PALM SPRINGS — In honor of National Pride Month, the LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desert is displaying some of its collection at the Welwood Murray Memorial Library during the month of June.

The Pride Month Display showcases various items from the Archives collection to highlight the breadth and depth of the donations and acquisitions received during the last five years.  The Display is in the cases in the main reading room at the Welwood Murray Memorial Library in downtown Palm Springs, located at 100 S. Palm Canyon Drive.

“The Archive has been fortunate to receive several donations of meaningful items that demonstrate the vitality of the LGBTQ community in Palm Springs and the surrounding cities,” said David Gray, co-founder and co-director. “We are excited to have this opportunity to show some of our collection to the community.” Among some of the items on display are publications, travel guides, commemorative pins, posters, and other memorabilia.

The display began on June 1 and will be viewable during the month during regular library hours, Monday through Sunday 10am – 6pm, with extended hours on Thursday until 8 p.m.

Formed in 2019 the LGBTQ+ History & Archives of the Desert is a community-based archive that documents, collects, preserves, and makes accessible the history of LGBTQ individuals, businesses, organizations, and events centered in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley.
