With 10 days left until filing deadline, three candidates qualify for the Nov. 8 ballot

CATHEDRAL CITY — Two incumbents and one challenger are among the three candidates who have officially qualified to be on the Nov. 8 ballot.

Qualified candidates are:

Saldivar is challenging incumbent Councilor Ernesto Gutierrez, who told Uken Report he is mounting a campaign. He has not yet qualified as a candidate, according to the City Clerk’s office.

In addition to the three seats open on the City Council, the City Treasurer position is also up for election. The City Treasurer is elected at large. The City Treasurer has general oversight of a city’s financial affairs. City Treasurers often advise the City Manager’s Office and City Council for questions regarding a city’s revenue, spending, and overall municipal funds. The salary of this position is $14,227 per year, according to Run for Office. 

The nomination period for the upcoming Nov. 8 election is now through Aug. 12.
